-- New Product Introduction Engineer SmartCity, Kochi New Product Introduction Engineer The New Product Introduction Engineer is responsible for taking product prototypes or the minimum viable products from the development phase through to full-scale products. This role requires hands-on involvement in refining prototypes, ensuring they meet manufacturability standards, and overseeing the transition of these prototypes into a reliable, cost-effective production process. The NPI Engineer will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure that products are launched successfully, on time, and meet all performance and quality requirements. The candidate with the following Skills can Apply Product Development Support Collaboration with Design Teams Work closely with design and development teams to ensure that new products are designed with manufacturability, quality, and cost in mind. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Provide input during the design phase to optimize the product for efficient manufacturing processes, reducing complexity and cost. Prototype Development Prototype Testing and Evaluation Oversee the creation and testing of prototypes, ensuring that they meet design specifications and quality standards. Feedback Loop Analyze test results and provide feedback to the design team for necessary modifications or improvements. Process Development and Optimization Process Design and Documentation Develop and document manufacturing processes for new products, including assembly instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions. Process Validation Validate and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure they are reliable, repeatable, and capable of producing products that meet quality standards. Supply Chain and Vendor Management Supplier Coordination Work with suppliers to source materials and components needed for production, ensuring they meet specifications and delivery timelines. Vendor Qualification Participate in the selection and qualification of new suppliers, ensuring they can meet the quality, cost, and delivery requirements for the new product. Pilot Production and Ramp-Up Pilot Runs Manage pilot production runs to identify and resolve any issues before full-scale production begins. This includes troubleshooting and refining processes. Production Ramp-Up Plan and manage the ramp-up of production, ensuring that all processes, materials, and equipment are ready to meet production targets. Cross-Functional Collaboration Project Management Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, procurement, production, etc.) to ensure that new products are launched on time and within budget. Communication Act as the central point of contact for all NPI activities, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and issues. Quality Assurance Quality Control Plans Develop and implement quality control plans to ensure that the new product meets all regulatory and customer requirements. Problem Solving Investigate and resolve any quality issues that arise during the NPI process, implementing corrective actions as needed. Continuous Improvement Process Improvement Continuously monitor and improve manufacturing processes, even after the product has been introduced into production. Feedback Incorporation Gather feedback from production teams and customers to drive improvements in future product introductions. Cost Management Cost Analysis Work with finance and procurement teams to analyze the cost of materials, processes, and production, aiming to meet cost targets for the new product. Cost Reduction Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or functionality. Training and Support Training Production Teams Provide training and support to production teams on new processes and equipment, ensuring they are prepared for full-scale production. Technical Support Offer ongoing technical support to the production team during the early stages of product manufacturing. Regulatory Compliance Compliance Management Ensure that the new product and its manufacturing processes comply with all relevant regulatory standards and certifications. Documentation Maintain comprehensive documentation to support regulatory filings and audits. Risk Management Risk Assessment Conduct risk assessments to identify potential issues that could impact the product launch, such as supply chain disruptions, technical challenges, or regulatory hurdles. Mitigation Planning Develop and implement mitigation plans to address identified risks.
