Job Description

A banking operations manager helps establish, maintain, and facilitate a financial institution s method of doing business. The operations manager likely oversees all transaction reports and ensures that a high degree of accuracy is maintained by the bank. They also work to ensure that procedures related to cash on hand totals, armored car pickups, facility maintenance, and other subjects are handled properly. Since many banks are multiunit operations, the operations manager typically has a template for the various procedures at their bank it is their duty to make sure these standards are adhered to and maintained. Every transaction at a bank creates a record, and these records must also be examined carefully for accuracy. In most cases, the operations manager signs off on the final reconciliations for their bank at the close of business. With many banks, the operations manager also participates in the hiring process and is expected to help train new hires. Other tasks performed by the operations manager include ensuring that invoices in areas such as utilities, rent, and maintenance are approved and paid in a timely manner. A banking operations manager typically must possess a strong background in accounting or finance, as well as a bachelor s degree.
